Vampire Facelift®
The Procedure
The Vampire FaceLift® is a 2hr procedure that begins with the application of an anaesthetic cream to the face and the injection of an HA filler. Blood is then drawn, centrifuged and PRP is injected into the areas being treated. A considerable amount of time is spent drawing the patient’s blood and spinning it to prepare the growth factor-rich PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) and numbing the treatment areas.
Anaesthetic cream is applied to the area or areas being treated. Hyaluronic Acid (HA) filler is then used in a specific way to sculpt a younger-looking face. As previously mentioned, an emphasis is placed on keeping the shape natural.
Blood is drawn from the arm (just like when you have a blood test done). The blood is put in a centrifuge. The platelets are transferred into another tube Higher concentrations of calcium chloride can usually be found in the tissue than in the blood, so when the doctor adds calcium chloride to the PRP, the platelets think that tissue injury released the calcium into the blood stream. The platelets release growth factors into the liquid of the tube. The liquid is transferred into a syringe and injected into the area being treated using a tiny needle and in a way that distributes the growth factors in the proper way. The extra calcium chloride triggers the platelets to release at least 7 different growth factors that then trigger the multipotent stem cells to grow younger tissue–rejuvenating cells. Because these areas have been numbed with a local anesthetic cream, patients experience little or no discomfort during the procedure.
PRP has been used effectively for a variety of treatments for more than 20 years.
Over 500,000 procedures involving the injection of PRP into various parts of the body have been performed with no significant side effects or complications reported.
Treatment Sessions
The Vampire Facelift is a procedure that can be performed on the same day as the consultation. The procedure takes approximately two hours. A significant amount of this time is spent preparing the PRP and getting the injection sites numb. Typically, the procedure does not have to be repeated more often that once every 18 months.
